In the beginning, there's the title of the film in block capitals, spread across the screen. This is done to to make it seem more defined and to stand out from ordinary titles. We then see an extreme close up of a hand holding a picture. This is done to focus the audience's attention to the photo in the man's hand because it is important to the opening sequence or the entire film. Times new roman font used for titles in the beginning. This could be done to present a more formal introduction to the film. Also, the decision to make it blue, represents purity and calmness, as apposed to a strong primary colour such as red. As the sequence is goes on, we soon start to realise it is going backwards in time as the photo starts to fade away. This creates enigma and makes the audience want to watch the film to understand. To finish off, throughout the entire opening sequence there is non diegetic music playing of slow, soft strings playing. Which creates the mood of sadness and makes the audience think that something to be sad about has happened, e.g. death.
